about

Tracy and Sunshine Gantt Ministries was founded in 2015 with a mission to serve the homeless and underprivileged in Pickens County, SC. The ministry was established by Tracy and Sunshine Gantt, who have a deep passion for helping those in crisis through faith-based outreach.

In April 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry expanded its impact by opening Pickens County Shelter of Hope, the county's first and only homeless shelter. The shelter provides daily housing, meals, clothing, and essential services to 50-60 homeless men and women, completely free of charge. While Pickens County Shelter of Hope primarily serves individuals experiencing homelessness, we also extend our outreach to struggling families. Through food assistance, clothing, and community events, we ensure that no family faces hardship alone.

At Tracy and Sunshine Gantt Ministries, we are committed to meeting the needs of our community in meaningful ways. One of our initiatives is our Free Yard Sales, where we travel to different cities within Pickens County and set up just like a traditional yard sale—but with one major difference: everything is completely free. From clothing and shoes to household essentials and toys, we provide items at no cost to individuals and families facing hardship. Our goal is to ensure that those in need can access everyday necessities with dignity, without financial burden. By bringing these resources directly into the community, we create opportunities for hope, support, and a fresh start for many.

For nearly a decade, Tracy and Sunshine Gantt Ministries has hosted a Back-to-School Bash, ensuring that approximately 1,000 children start the school year prepared. With the help of government officials, businesses, and sponsors, we provide backpacks, school supplies, and shoes—along with free food, entertainment, and water fun for the kids! This event has become a cherished tradition in our community, proving that when we come together, we can make a difference.

Tracy and Sunshine Gantt Ministries/Pickens County Shelter of Hope has been recognized for its unwavering commitment to serving the homeless and vulnerable in our community. Our impact has been acknowledged through commendation letters from esteemed government officials, including Former Easley Mayor Larry Bagwell, Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, and Current South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster. These acknowledgments reflect the significance of our work in addressing homelessness and providing essential services to those in need. In 2022, our dedication was further honored with the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, a testament to our ongoing mission of restoring hope, changing lives, and strengthening our community through compassion and service

Since its inception, the ministry has grown through partnerships with local churches, law enforcement, businesses, and community supporters, working to break cycles of poverty and homelessness. Their mission is rooted in faith, service, and advocacy, ensuring that those in need receive not only shelter but also hope and pathways to stability.
